A series in which we arm you with the right questions to ask before signing a lease. The Question: Is there a history of bedbugs in this building? Who To Ask: The internet Landlords are legally obligated to let tenants know about any bedbug infestations within the past year, but are under no obligation to disclose any infestations further back than that. Bedbugregistry.com will give you an idea of the situation and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development website will show you complaints by tenants as well as violations for specifics buildings/units. (A violation means that a city inspector has confirmed the presence of bedbugs). Image via Tags: bed bugs, apartment hunting, FAQ, nyc rentals User Comments
