Greenpoint

 Greenpoint is a peninsular knob at the northwest corner of Brooklyn, bounded roughly by the East River, Newtown Creek (which separates Brooklyn from Queens), the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and McCarren Park, which straddles Williamsburg.   In recent years, the neighborhood, which has traditionally been part industrial and part residential,  has seen an influx of artists and professionals from nearby Williamsburg and Greenwich Village. Trendy bars and boutiques have opened up. Rents, meanwhile, have remained low compared with those in n or brownstone Brooklyn, which makes Greenpoint an attractive alternative to living in a cramped East Village walkup, especially with the numerous spacious lofts now available for residential use.
