Englewood Expands Environmental Education with Nature Center Makeover

Come October, Englewood’s famed Flat Rock Brook Nature Center will welcome a new exhibit with the construction of “A Walk in the Woods,” already underway.  With this new exhibit, Englewood’s Flat Rock Brook Nature Center aims to connect its visitors with outdoor experiences and increase their interactions with the outdoors by highlighting the perhaps less obvious aspects of the Nature Center by bringing these little wonders front and center.

As an indoor exhibit, “A Walk in the Woods” will focus on many of the habitats found within the Englewood Nature Center’s perimeters, such as the meadows, ponds, streams, watersheds, and forests.  Additionally, the new exhibit will feature a 500-gallon aquarium, a 15-foot-tall fabricated Red Oak tree, a large 3-D topographic map of the Englewood Nature Center, as well as various dioramas, games, and activities.  Another new addition, the Englewood Flat Rock Brook Nature Center presents a weather program, fully-equipped with touch-screen monitors, enabling visitors to interact with and learn more about their natural surroundings.

By developing this new environmental education exhibit, the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center of Englewood looks to attract visitors of all ages, particularly with their revamped collection of programs, thus enhancing the visitors’ overall experience.

Englewood’s Flat Rock Brook Nature Center is located at 443 Van Nostrand Avenue, Englewood. Tel: 201.567.1265

The park is open for hiking daily from dawn to dusk. The Building Hours are as follows: Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM; Weekends, 1 PM – 5 PM.
