Fitness in Tenafly Soon to be more than Just a Walk in the Park
At a recent council meeting, Tenafly’s Recreation Department set forth a proposal calling for the installation of fitness equipment at a central location within the borough. Working closely with Meyko LLC, an organization with a great deal of experience in outdoor fitness equipment, the Tenafly Recreation Department has proposed to install nine pieces of equipment that will cater to a variety of strength and endurance exercises.
The equipment, recommended for midsize or large outdoor spaces, would include an elliptical machine as well as equipment for push-ups, stretching, and both upper and lower body building exercises. The Tenafly Recreation Department hopes install the fitness apparatus in a well-known and frequented park or local recreation area to attract people from all demographics – young and old – while still maintaining the aesthetics of the park.
Drawing inspiration from the heavily used outdoor fitness equipment in Leonia’s Overpeck Park, and in an effort to support Tenafly Mayor, Peter Rustin’s wellness campaign, Tenafly’s Recreation Department hopes to encourage more people to participate in a fitness regimen by providing a place to work out.
