Legendary Attention to Detail and Negotiation Savvy Dr. Ruth Miron-Schleider

Dr. Ruth Miron-Schleider, one of Northern New Jersey’s best-known Realtors, originally moved to the United States at age 15 to pursue a career as a classically trained pianist. She was a prodigal musician who won a scholarship to Juilliard and later earned Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Music Education at Columbia University.   Throughout this period she concertized extensively.

 In the 1980s, Dr. Ruth, as her clients affectionately call her, settled with her husband and two young children in Bergen County, New Jersey. At the behest of her younger sister, an attorney, she pursued real estate.
 
“Very quickly, I saw that I couldn’t work within a traditional formula,” Dr. Ruth recalls. “It was more about closing the deal than customer service or relationships. When I told my sister I wasn’t made for this profession, she said that I could do it my way on my terms. That changed my mind about the industry.”
 
Dr. Ruth credits her success with a commitment to building long-term relationships and loyally protecting customers, even if this means forfeiting commission. This level of devotion, along with her legendary attention to detail and negotiation savvy, has earned her a widespread devotion in the real estate industry, from developers and investors to residential buyers and sellers.  In Dr. Ruth’s 25 years as a broker, she’s developed a fan base that spans the globe.
 
Dr. Ruth’s artistic sensibilities and background in education are assets, as well. She’s sensitive to how people process information, both emotionally and cerebrally. Dr. Ruth insists on meeting in an office with clients before showing properties. She takes notes at every interaction and delivers highly customized service to each customer. Dr. Ruth reflects, “All my clients are treated like special clients. They all feel they are my favorite.”
 
As head of the Miron team at Sotheby’s, Dr. Ruth negotiated over $100 million in closed transactions and was recognized with the New Jersey Association of Realtors Circle of Excellence Award each year from 1999 to 2010. When she left to form the Bergen County office of Miron Properties, a remarkable 100% of her Sotheby’s clients followed her.
 
Miron Properties, founded by Dr. Ruth’s son, Jeff Schleider, has quickly become a formidable presence in the New York metro area. Since its 2008 founding, the Manhattan office has grown exponentially. The firm has been recognized in various publications, including New York Magazine, Brokers Weekly, The Mann Report, and WPIX Channel 11 for its expertise in new media marketing, green building techniques, and Manhattan’s residential and commercial markets.  Miron Properties has also received attention for educating on the use of more efficient and less destructive green building techniques and its commitment to charity.  
 
Dr. Ruth is committed to following in her son’s footsteps, just as he has in hers. “Jeffrey’s my inspiration,” she says. “He’s devoted to his clients and is as great a negotiator as he is committed to philanthropy and the environment. As a businesswoman, I’m in awe of his ability to put together transactions and earn lifelong clients.  As a mother, I’m proud to see the values he’s incorporated in his firm.”

Dr. Ruth’s Bergen County Miron office has hit the ground running. It only opened in November, but grew to five agents in one month. Within the first few weeks, Miron launched a gala opening event, unveiled a high tech office, and closed numerous transactions. Like the New York office, the New Jersey office is committed to donating a portion of proceeds to charity.
